Top TV Icons

TV Land put out a list of the 50 Greatest TV Icons and Legends. Here's the top 10:

10. Dick Clark
9. Homer Simpson
8. Jerry Seinfeld
7. Mary Tyler Moore
6. Carol Burnett
5. Walter Cronkite
4. Bill Cosby
3. Oprah Winfrey
2. Lucille Ball
1. Johnny Carson

Who'd be on your list?

I'd have to have Andy Griffith and Dick Van Dyke in my top 10 for sure. I have a hard time disputing Johnny as #1.

You forgot the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and those guys from MASH. Or, what about Steve Urkel?

Carol Burnett. I haven't laughed at anything as hard as her show, with Tim Conway and Harvery Corman. I live for the day they release that on DVD.

Ha, Steve Urkel. That's one I didn't think of. It's interesting that there seems to be fairly split between the more "old school" TV icons and newer oneson the list.

I think I'd add Screech from Saved by the Bell. Or maybe Kevin from The Wonder Years. It's a tough call.

Personally I'd drop Homer like a hot potato, but I know a lot of people see merit in his show.

Otherwise, I can definitely agree with their list.

Popular culture might argue that Ryan Seacrest deserves a place somewhere. Or Carson Daly. But that was back when MTV was fun.
